Completion of the first stage in the creation of an AI-based French tutoring system
Project Summary
Some college students have significant gaps in their reading and writing skills that hinder their success. The AI-based tutoring system aims to replicate the intervention methods used in French counseling to support students in their approach to reading complex texts, right through to developing the main ideas for an analysis. Tutoring systems exist in which AI stimulates thinking by asking questions rather than answering them. The challenge will be to adapt AI to stimulate and validate intellectual reasoning.
The project has three objectives:
READING. AI can encourage students to actively read a text and instructions. In a text read aloud, AI will be able to identify the student's hesitations, ask them what they have understood, and confirm (or refute) their intuitions.
COMPREHENSION. The AI-based tutoring system will be adapted to the specific learning methods of students with difficulties. Thanks to the AI's questions, students will be guided in their efforts to extract the significant elements of a text.
