Interactive workshop: Integrating a conversational robot as a teaching aid in higher education
Project Summary
This project aims to develop a turnkey workshop for teachers and educational advisors to equip them with the tools they need to integrate personalized chatbots into their teaching practices. These tools, based on generative artificial intelligence, have the potential to offer continuous, accessible support tailored to students' specific needs, complementing traditional teaching methods.
This project builds on an innovation project already underway in nuclear medicine at Ahuntsic College, where experiments with a conversational robot have demonstrated the potential to enrich learning and overcome limitations related, among other things, to teacher availability. The positive results observed, as well as the lessons learned from this first phase, will serve as the basis for designing the workshop.
The workshop will include a theoretical introduction to the advantages and challenges of AI in education, a practical demonstration of how to set up a personalized chatbot (using ChatGPT and/or Copilot Studio), and a comprehensive teaching kit. The kit will include practical guides, explanatory sheets, and exercises that can be applied to various educational contexts. Particular attention will be paid to validating the responses generated by AI and to supporting students in order to maximize their learning.
This project will not only enable the transfer of knowledge acquired to other disciplines and institutions, but also take the current innovation project even further by broadening its impact and strengthening the culture of educational innovation in higher education.
